What Do We Teach
All programming is based on assessing your child and establishing your child’s’ present levels of performance across a variety of domains. Once we have assessed your child, we create programming that addresses your family goals and needs as well as teaches developmentally and age-appropriate skills to your child. While each program is unique to the child and family, goals may include:
Social-Communication: Teaching functional communication, helping children understand social cues and non-verbal communication, developing age-appropriate vocabularies, increasing listener and speaker abilities, increasing conversational skills, increasing spontaneous language.
Self-Help Skills and Adaptive Skills: Teaching age-appropriate dressing, eating, toileting, and daily activity skills.
Self-Regulstion Skill: Increasing problrm solvingabilities when upset or frustrated, teaching calming strategies
School Readiness Skills/Pre-Academics: increasing sitting and attending skills, establishing instructional control, teaching children to understand the "language of instruction"
Academics: Teaching reading, writing, math and other academic skills. We utilize research-based Direct instruction (DI) curricula to teach academic skills
Independent Play and Social Play Skills: Increasing age-appropriate play skills, initiating and maintaining interactions with peers, flexibility with play, developing interactive play skills.
